Playing Classes

There will be 10 playing classes in total.

Example: To participate in Boys' / Girls' 18, the player must be born in year 2006 or later.

Girls can participate in Boys' classes due to there being less girl classes overall.

Each player can participate in 2 classes per day.

Playing Format

All matches at Pongfinity Cup will be played best-of-five games.

Each class will start with a group stage. We aim to have 4 players in each group. Two
players will proceed to the knock-out stage, while the rest players will proceed to the
consolation stage. The knock-out and consolation stages ensure at least one additional
match to every player.

Preliminary Schedule

In the picture you will see the preliminary schedule for the tournament.

The exact scheduling for each playing class will be made public after we have received the registrations.

All players participating in the tournament can take part in the Pongfinity video-shoot challenge.

There will be a Pongfinity meet & greet time slot on both days where you can take pictures with the team.

Program

  • 1. Tournament

    Compete in an international tournament! The major focus is on junior classes, but there will also be Men's and Women's singles with the grand prize of 1000€ for the winners!

  • 2. Meet & Greet

    Say hello to Otto, Emil and Miikka in the Pongfinity hall! There will be a meet&greet event on both Saturday and Sunday where you will be able to take pictures with the guys!

  • 3. Video-shoot

    Participate in a Pongfinity video-shoot! Pongfinity will film a video for their YouTube channel together with all tournament participants on Saturday 1st of February.

Venue

The whole program of Pongfinity Cup will take place in:

Ruskeasuon Palloiluhalli, Ratsastie 10, 00280 Helsinki, Finland.

Organizer

The event is organized by Finnish table tennis club Mejlans Bollförening (MBF) and Pongfinity.

Prizes

The finalists and semi-finalists of each class will receive a money-prize and a cup trophy. The total prize money for the tournament is 5000€.

There will be an additional 1000€ prize for the Pongfinity video-shoot winner!

Accommodation

We recommend to stay at Valo Hotel (Mannerheimintie 109, 00280, Helsinki), which is nearby the venue. The hotel is 1,4km away from the venue and you can reach it easiest by:

  • Walking (20 minutes)
  • Car / Uber / Taxi (5 minutes)

Participation Fee

The participation fee is based on the playing classes.

The meet & greet events as well as the Pongfinity video-shoot is free of charge for all participants of the tournament. 

Pictures / Streaming / Recording of Matches

The tournament will be livestreamed and players might be featured on Pongfinity’s Youtube channels and other social medias.  

By participating/spectating in the tournament and the Pongfinity video shoot you agree that you (and/or the player participating) might be seen in a video made about the tournament, live-streams of the tournament or in match uploads on Pongfinity’s social media channels.  

Equipment

Matches will be played on Stiga table tennis tables.

Matches will be played with the Pongfinity 40+mm table tennis ball.

Competition Shirt

The official Pure Waste competition shirt is made from 100% recycled fibers. It is a unisex model and is sold using men's measurements; women should choose one size smaller than usual.

The t-shirt is made from recycled by-product cotton and recycled plastic bottles and manufactured responsibly in Pure Waste’s factory.

The shirt can be bought only from the registration form prior to the tournament for a price of 25€. We will make the t-shirts based on demand, so that there won't be left over any extra (unbought) shirts after the tournament.

Registration

Registrations to Pongfinity Cup 2025 have started now!

The tournament is limited to a maximum amount of players. Registrations will be approved in the order that the participation fees have been paid (first paid, first served). If there are more registrations, the subsequent registrants will be placed in a queue.

Make sure to register ASAP if you want to ensure your spot in the first ever Pongfinity Cup! The last possible day to register for the tournament is at 23:59 (Finnish time) Sunday
22nd of December 2024 if there are still slots left at that point.

The Finnish Table Tennis Association's rating list of Sunday 12th January 2025 will be the basis for the seeding of players.

The organizers reserve the right to constrain the number of participants per class in case of overbooking.

Players that have registered and paid their participation fee are confirmed to play at Pongfinity Cup 2025. Below you will find an up-to-date list of successful registrations. After you have paid your registration, please make sure that you see your name in the list and that you have entered the correct classes.
